We have decided to use this song, 'U.S Army Rangers Soundtrack (Modern Warfare 2 Soundtrack)' during the battle/action scene of our short film, Pinpoint. It doesn't feature any vocals, just a straight instrumental that sets the scene of the film. The soundtrack is originally from Modern Warfare 2, a war game played on consoles where players are required to kill the opposing teams. The build-up of the track signifies that danger is present, as it sets the scene.
We decided to use this song, 'How far we seek' by Gargantuan Music, throughout the first half of our short film, Pinpoint. Just like the previous song (featured for the second half of my production) it doesn't feature any artist, the track is just a pure instrumental. The song slowly builds up through the duration of its use which automatically entices the audience, drawing their attention to the production as they anticipate the build-up, waiting for the Climax. The drops in the track are synced with character movements (for example, the beat drops as Ricky turns on his XboxOne) which keeps the attention focused on the production and story-line of what is occurring.

Match
on action
Cutting
on action or matching on action refers to film
editing and video-editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to
another view that matches the
first shot's action. Using
match on action creates the impression of continuity. Match on action this
creates a visual bridge or ink between two shots by creating a continuous sense
of the same action mostly from a different angle.
Match
on action consists of a character completing an action in the second shot which
they started in the first.

Who are the BBFC?
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) was introduced by members of the film industry in 1912. This allowed them to have rights to censor and certificate films rather than having the government do it. However, there are still relations between the two.
The certification that is given to a production depends on a
number of different factors, for example: how much sex/nudity, drug use, strong
language and violence is included within the film. This is beneficial as it
prohibits minor of particular ages viewing the material in cinemas, or being
able to purchase the DVD/Blu-Ray version of the film, depending on the
certification given.
Universal – There is no unsuitable content for very young children, and can be viewed by anyone |
Parental Guidance - Viewable for all ages, may unsettle young children |
Only those aged 15 and above are allowed to view films with this certication, as they usually contain moderate adult themes including drug use, sexual activity/nudity, violence and strong language |

Dear Mr Nick Mansell,
I am a student from Oaks Park High School and I am currently studying A2 Media Studies, a subject in which I have a strong drive and passion for. I am writing to you in order to request the use of your sound-track 'MW2 - U.S Army Rangers'. The piece fits perfectly with my production and I feel that without it, it simply won't be up to the standard in which it could potentially be. I plan to use a small snippet of the piece. The final production will be rendered fully and released onto YouTube and perhaps other social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter in order to reach my target audience and receive feedback.
I can assure you, this usage will only be for educational purposes (not for profit) and will not be for any other reasons, please do take this into consideration when you are selecting your decision.
Many thanks,
Marcus Stamp & SupernovaShorts.

Our production company logo that is going to be used to represent us as a group is fairly simple and appropriate. A supernova is a stellar explosion that briefly outshines an entire galaxy. We chose this theme as we thought this best represented our final product as being out of this world. Also, supernova's consist of very bright colours, meaning that our logo would be very eye-catching and stylish. The darker outside with the light inner colour creates a nice contrast that makes it look neat and gives the logo itself a slick design, making it stand out. It was important for the logo to look presentable as it is going to be on every single piece of coursework produced by our group members.

Production Crew & Roles
The Director - Natalia Cotonou
The role of a director part of a production company, is to carry out their vision by organising duties and roles to specific members to get the best final product. They administer the group as a strong leader. AS they are in charge, this means that they sort out a number of things such as Costumes, Props, Sound/Score notes, Documents that require signatures and other documents that need to be gathered in order to start and finish the production.
A director also has to make sure that the group as a whole is performing efficiently and is up to date with all work, keeping things neat, organised and on schedule. They must be responsible for anything that goes wrong during the pre-production and post production stages. Lastly, they must ensure that actors and actresses working for their production company are happy and comfortable.
The Cameraman - Keanon McSween
The role of the camerman is to ensure that the vision of the director is fulfilled and bought to life. They are also responsible for making the actors feel comfortable and content. The cameraman must also ensure that he is comfortable handling the filming equipment so that they are prepared for the filming actually commences. It is down to the cameraman to correctly capture and manage all footage that is recorded from each session. He must also consolidate with the director in order to see whether he has met her needs/requirements
The Editor - Marcus Stamp
The editor is responsible for collating and assembling the raw footage that is provided by the cameraman from the filming sessions. He must then create a fully finished and good standard final production, feasible enough to be release as a film by SupernovaShorts. The skills and ability of the editor can determine the quality and delivery of the final 5 minute production. Since the editor does not take part in the filming of the production, they stick by the director in order to help out and make the entire operation more efficient
The Sound Person - Marcus Stamp
The role of the sound person is to ensure all sound is ready for use and to also ensure that no sound is too high, low or of bad quality. They must create score notes before adding it into the library for the production, making sure it is relevant to the theme and subject of the production. Sound plays a large part in a production as it helps to set the mood or convey particular events, meaning that it will be one of the factors that determines the quality of the final product.
